The wheels are the things on the car that make contact with the road

Well, I set the rules up the other day for my blog, and I must follow them. With that said.....um...I suppose I'll move on.
Oh geez....what do I have to say if I can't complain? Do I have to follow the rules? I mean, C'mon! I made the rules, so that means..................
That means!! I shouldn't break them. Got it.

I saw many sprouts in both garden areas today. I am so excited to have fresh vegetables in a few months! Brussel sprouts! Broccoli! Carrots! Two kinds of tators! Oh my goodness! It's hard to contain myself, but I will. I must.

Ken and I went to a used book store today. I love the smell of old books. Mmm......You can just close your eyes, and smell the pages. Ahhhh.......
Oh! Well, it really helps if you have an old book in hand. It helped me just now. I bought a book that I've never read, but I have seen the movie about 20 years ago or so. I remember liking the movie, but I don't remember it all that well. With that said......
drum roll please...................................................
I have set a goal for myself! I will read this book, and then I shall rent the movie. Yay!

Chariots of Fire!! I'm excited. I'm currently reading about 5 books, so this will be a challenge. Game on!! What other books am I reading you ask?
Let's see......
  1. My Point is....And Do I Have One by Ellen Degeneres
  2. Mary Todd Lincoln: A Biography by Jean Harvey Baker (it's supposed to be the most accurate from what I've researched)
  3. How to Meditate by Kathleen McDonald
  4. Get Me Out of Here by Rachel Reiland
  5. Holes by Louis Sachar (I read this years ago, and I LOVED it. I thought I'd try it again.)
  6. Dogfight by Calvin Trillin

Whoa! I'm reading 6 books! What an overachiever I am. Haha! Hardly. When I feel I need to take a break from one book, I start reading another. That's why I
L-O-V-E my kindle!
Ken and I are actually reading a book together. We're reading Dogfight. It's pretty humorous.

Ken is teaching me to play chess. I've been practicing for a few weeks or so.
Now when I say "practicing" I mean I've been playing Ken about 4-13 times a week. The  "practicing" has increased in the past week. I suppose that's what sparked this grand idea of Ken's. We would make our own chess board! I have a drawing board that isn't being used properly. Ok. You got me. It's not being used at all.
Anyway! Give a gal a break!
So.....this grand idea of making a chess board was put into action last night. We got the ruler, tape measure, square, pencils, and sharpies out last night, and went to work.

It's not finished yet. We have great ideas for the black squares on the board, but it takes time to make something awesome! The black squares are shaded in with a pencil right now, and have darker edges around them.
Yes, I know there is one black piece that just sticks out more than all the others. Somehow! Somehow we have lost/misplaced a bishop. It'll turn up. Someday. Somehow.

I'm having a lot of fun with this art project! Ken and I haven't done any arts and crafts projects in a long time together. We are way past due!
I'm really glad I'm learning to play chess, because poor Ken doesn't have anyone to play. He plays the computer, but where's the interaction? That's not the only reason I'm playing though. I enjoy board games, and what better than one that is actually challenging? So....practice, practice, practice! He told me I'm getting a lot better, because now he has to pay more attention. That made me feel good about myself.

Chess....it's a complicated game. What with all the thinking and strategies and the way the pieces move and.......ugh.
Let me put it this way. I have to use my brain! That's always a good thing though. Sometimes after 3 straight games, I'm pretty sure my brain starts leaking out of my left ear.

Alrighty. I'm off to do something else.

I read Holes back when our kids were in school. Good book! I am in a book stalemate at the moment. (Chess lingo, yes?)

Your title is misleading Ande. Haven't you seen your father in law drive?
