Birds of a feather are flocking outside

Hey ya'll! So apparently I haven't blogged in a while. Let me see if I still got it.  What's that sound? Oh...that's me cracking my knuckles. Oh the other sound? I was feeding my hamster. She gets hungry up there. Gotta keep her hydrated too. That's why she wears a hydration backpack. What?! I fed her only carbs! She'll be fine. Tons of energy! Oh......you're confused of why I'm prepping my hamster, Carol Burnett. Well, she spins the wheel up in 'ol noggin of mine. And...yes, her name is Carol Burnett. If you don't like that then you can leave. Wait! You can leave after you read all of this.

Today I planted more cabbage, brussel sprouts, and broccoli. Planted 2 different kinds of gourds and 2 different kinds of onions. I sprinkled sevendust on the tomatoes and everything else with leaves. I did pull some weeds. I don't know which of those was the most exciting yet. Too be continued.......

To anybody who doesn't speak Spanish I would like to say, "Happy 5th of May!!"

So far the best day of this month has to be May Day. May Day!!! May 1st. I went to see Fleetwood Mac...........AGAIN!!! My seat was awesome, the Mac gave me goosebumps and made me cry from happiness almost, but the best part of it was the company I had with me. My Grandma Judy was my concert buddy. I'm pretty sure I can say safely that she is the BEST concert buddy ever. I danced! I sang loud! I've never done that at a concert. Never felt comfortable enough with the company I was with I suppose. Oh man!! It felt so great to dance and sing. I told my Grandma Judy, G.J., "I just wanna dance!!!" (exclamation points because I had to be loud. It was a concert. Duh.) So....get this.....she tells me, "Well, go dance. Dance up there by the wall. Ya! Do it." (our seats were 2 rows away from the wall)
So I did it! I had to get it out! I had to wave my arms around and sway like Stevie Nicks with her shawls. I was nervous at first. As soon as I start lettin' it out, a worker comes up to me and says to me, "Ma'm, find your seat." Might I add this was a tall masculine woman. So I ran back to my seat. Yikes!!

Well, I'm out of stuff to say right now. If it doesn't come out naturally, then I don't like to put my name on it. You feel me?
I would like to say I am very proud of this pretty lady....

My precious cousin Megan is graduating in 12 days. This is her awesome prom picture. Why are all the kids getting older? Am I? Let's see......

Nope!! I'm not.

Haha!! Well, until next time........

Be kind to one another

The wheels are the things on the car that make contact with the road

Well, I set the rules up the other day for my blog, and I must follow them. With that said.....um...I suppose I'll move on.
Oh geez....what do I have to say if I can't complain? Do I have to follow the rules? I mean, C'mon! I made the rules, so that means..................
That means!! I shouldn't break them. Got it.

I saw many sprouts in both garden areas today. I am so excited to have fresh vegetables in a few months! Brussel sprouts! Broccoli! Carrots! Two kinds of tators! Oh my goodness! It's hard to contain myself, but I will. I must.

Ken and I went to a used book store today. I love the smell of old books. Mmm......You can just close your eyes, and smell the pages. Ahhhh.......
Oh! Well, it really helps if you have an old book in hand. It helped me just now. I bought a book that I've never read, but I have seen the movie about 20 years ago or so. I remember liking the movie, but I don't remember it all that well. With that said......
drum roll please...................................................
I have set a goal for myself! I will read this book, and then I shall rent the movie. Yay!

Chariots of Fire!! I'm excited. I'm currently reading about 5 books, so this will be a challenge. Game on!! What other books am I reading you ask?
Let's see......
  1. My Point is....And Do I Have One by Ellen Degeneres
  2. Mary Todd Lincoln: A Biography by Jean Harvey Baker (it's supposed to be the most accurate from what I've researched)
  3. How to Meditate by Kathleen McDonald
  4. Get Me Out of Here by Rachel Reiland
  5. Holes by Louis Sachar (I read this years ago, and I LOVED it. I thought I'd try it again.)
  6. Dogfight by Calvin Trillin

Whoa! I'm reading 6 books! What an overachiever I am. Haha! Hardly. When I feel I need to take a break from one book, I start reading another. That's why I
L-O-V-E my kindle!
Ken and I are actually reading a book together. We're reading Dogfight. It's pretty humorous.

Ken is teaching me to play chess. I've been practicing for a few weeks or so.
Now when I say "practicing" I mean I've been playing Ken about 4-13 times a week. The  "practicing" has increased in the past week. I suppose that's what sparked this grand idea of Ken's. We would make our own chess board! I have a drawing board that isn't being used properly. Ok. You got me. It's not being used at all.
Anyway! Give a gal a break!
So.....this grand idea of making a chess board was put into action last night. We got the ruler, tape measure, square, pencils, and sharpies out last night, and went to work.

It's not finished yet. We have great ideas for the black squares on the board, but it takes time to make something awesome! The black squares are shaded in with a pencil right now, and have darker edges around them.
Yes, I know there is one black piece that just sticks out more than all the others. Somehow! Somehow we have lost/misplaced a bishop. It'll turn up. Someday. Somehow.

I'm having a lot of fun with this art project! Ken and I haven't done any arts and crafts projects in a long time together. We are way past due!
I'm really glad I'm learning to play chess, because poor Ken doesn't have anyone to play. He plays the computer, but where's the interaction? That's not the only reason I'm playing though. I enjoy board games, and what better than one that is actually challenging? So....practice, practice, practice! He told me I'm getting a lot better, because now he has to pay more attention. That made me feel good about myself.

Chess....it's a complicated game. What with all the thinking and strategies and the way the pieces move and.......ugh.
Let me put it this way. I have to use my brain! That's always a good thing though. Sometimes after 3 straight games, I'm pretty sure my brain starts leaking out of my left ear.

Alrighty. I'm off to do something else.

It's the 2nd Day of Spring, and I'm cold!

Ken was telling me that a blog can be like a journal. I thought, "What a neat concept, but what if I don't want people reading my journal?" I figured it out. This is my fun time journal! I really enjoy writing for people's entertainment. I have two pen pals, and now I have a blog! I really like when I  write something for someone, and they really enjoy reading it. That right there makes my heart sing. I especially like to have an imagination, write about nonsense, have people want to read what I have to say, umm....I like to entertain people. I think I entertain very well by writing, so this is a gift you all who reads this. Those who aren't reading it----that's ok. I'll try next time.

My other intentions for this blog is to be positive.
  • No complaining
  • No gossip
  • No whining
  • No cussing
  • No negativity
  • No politics
  • No bullying
  • No politics (I said that once, right? Now's twice.)

People don't want to read that kind of stuff all the time. I don't anyways. Sounds depressing. Sounds like a reality show written out. I want to stay positive and have a good time with this blog. I think it will rub off on me in real life. I'm don't mean that I don't have a good time in real life. What I mean is that....well, what do I mean?
Oh tartar sauce!! I just love to write, and make people feel good. Hopefully make them laugh or at the very least....SMILE!

My friend and boss, yes, all at once she is, told me something funny the other day that she read. It's so true too. Can you believe this month only has 8 days left? My goodness! Where did the days go? Where did the time go? What? Oh, you want to hear that funny thing I mentioned earlier? Okay. Sorry, I just rambled on to something else. Geez. I do that sometimes. Ramble. Yep. Yeppers. When I do that you gotta get me back on track, you know? 'Cause sometimes I will just go and.....WHAT?!!? Why are you glaring at me? Oh snap! I did it AGAIN! I started that dang 'ol ramblin'. Hey! Ok. Quit yelling at me, and pointing your finger! I'll tell you! I'll tell you whatever you want! What do you want to know? Huh? What? You wanna hear the funny thing my friend said the other day. Ok. Ok. Sure. Whatever you want. I'm feeling a bit nervous. Ok. Um...she said.....um........Oh ya!

"People are never happy with the weather. People complain it's too cold out, but when summer comes it's too hot out. Pick a season people!"
I chimed in and mentioned how people complain that it's so dry out. We need rain. Blah, blaudy, bling, bang. But!! When it rains, people complain that it's raining outside. It's wet out. Boo hoo.
Pick something people!

I know I have complained about the weather plenty. I probably did today, but it didn't feel like I was complaining. I just stated that it's cold out. I also mentioned that it was raining to my other friend at work. I was just being Captain Obvious. Somebody had to be. Nobody else was acting quick enough I suppose, so I stepped up. It wasn't anything like the movie "Step Up" or anything like that. Maybe it kinda woulda been if I danced while announcing the weather. If I try that out tomorrow, I'll see if it were like "Step Up." Problem is....oh, I'm so embarrassed. Ugh! I haven't seen the movie "Step Up."
Jeepers Creepers!! This is going to be a tough one. I am in a pickle.

I'll worry about that later. On to more important things, Captain! Such as....anything else really.

My "bug bite," "infected sore," but most definitely my "cellulitis" is doing much better. Thank you.

Here's a picture of it from Monday. I thought I looked like I had muscles like Popeye's, except I had more right by my elbow. I just knew I should have eaten my spinach straight from the can. Dang it! Well, next time my arm swells up.....
I will! I will eat Popeye's spinach from the can!

Oh yeah! I'm prepared already!

It's thundering now, so I'm going to comfort my dog Jazz. She's scared. She's hiding under the kitchen table. Poor girl.

Where was I?

I went to the doctor today for what I think is a bug bite. Doc says, "Hmm...I can't say it's a bug bite, unless you saw the actual bug. I can say it is an infected sore. I will say you have cellulitis."
I thought to myself...how many people actually see the bug bite them? And what kind of bug was it? Are you sure the bug bit you? What if you did get bit by a bug, but it wasn't the bug you saw? That would be wrongfully accusing a bug. Geez! What kind of person would wrongfully accuse a bug?!

I patiently waited for the nurse to come back with the two shots I was about to receive. I do not like shots, but I have learned to take 'em like a big girl. Sometimes I will even look now. Ballsy! I know. Half a day later the nurse came back. Why does it seem like forever in the doctor's office? Is it forever? Maybe it's the white sheet on the bed. Oooo!! Maybe it's all the jibber jabber you hear right outside the room you're in. You think, "Oh ya! I'm next!" Then...silence. Maybe it's a mind game they're playing with you. The whole staff gathers around and decides who they will bet on. Which patient can be the most patient? The lady with the baby? The lady that is just full of complaints since she made the appointment? Oh...How about the guy with the kindle? I would totally bet on the guy with the kindle.

Where was I? Ok. The nurse came back with the two shots, and I was so pumped up! Until I found out the shots weren't going to be injected into my arm. "You mean I gotta get the shots in my butt? I should have told you that I prefer them in my arm. I'm sorry." Haha
I didn't really say that. I did ask if I had to get the shots in my rear. The answer was yes. One for each cheek. Too much information for you? Fast forward then to the good part.

I accidentally kicked the nice nurse like a mule with the first shot. "No! Don't kick!" she said. "Sorry. So Sorry," as I talked through my teeth. "Ya, these can be a real pain in the butt," the lovely nurse said. I expected her to laugh at her own joke, so I wouldn't have to. Silence.
"Oh, ya, literally."
"Ok. Are you ready for the next one? And really try not to kick this time."
"No."
"Oh, are you ok? What?"
"Ugh...Yes, I'm ready, and please stick me before you get to three."

No kick on that one, and she stuck me at almost two.

I'm glad there are people out there helping other people by giving them shots in the butt. At the time, as a patient, I may not act thankful for them, but deep down I am. I am thankful for that nurse. And! To me it's kind of a funny story. I made the nurse laugh, so that made me feel good.

Today!

What a day! Whew! Am I allowed to call it a day yet? When is the proper time to "call it a day." There's something to google I said, I said I shall pronounce that it has indeed been a day, BUT not just any day. It has and still is TODAY!

What a productive day I have had! It always feels good to accomplish that "to do" list you started a couple of weeks ago.

I had start the day off right though, and that meant a good breakfast. I'm lovin' my new waffle iron, so I decided to make buttermilk wheat waffles. I forgot how good wheat flour is! It's been far too long since I've last cooked with it.

I put some string up around the plants. I'm really pumped about this year's garden. This is the smaller garden in the top photo. The other garden, which only has lettuce in it right now, is 15 ft. x 68 ft.

Having a blog is fun. I'm really glad Ken suggested I start one. I love to write. I don't really choose anything in particular to write about. I just start writing, and by the time I'm done writing it feels like I have written a short novel.

The Map

Here's the layout of one outta two gardens.

This is my first blog post.

This is a picture of my garden from last year. That's 2012 for any of ya'll who forgot what year we're on. It happens. Later I will post a picture of the garden from this year 2013.

I'm so excited about this year's garden! It's already doing better than last year's. Ken and I started working on it yesterday which was a Saturday. It was a B-E-A-YOU-Tiful day to start a garden. We tilled two separate spots. Our first year to have a tilled garden! Yay! That's what makes it the best garden yet. Don't get me wrong though, our tiller worked great last year. All it required from me were my vocal chords and a sturdy pointer finger. A couple of down sides to the old tiller were that she'd start tilling up an area that wasn't meant to be tilled, or then right when we really needed a good tilling, she decided it was quittin' time.

Anyone who is reading this besides me is most likely clueless as to what in the tarnation I'm talkin' about; I shall fill you in. Last year Ken and I would just point and yell, "GET IT Spok!! Get it!! GET IT!!" and she would dig as fast as she could. When she'd dig into a root, she wasn't going to let that stop her. Nope! Nothin' was gonna get in her way of digging (tilling)! She'd just wrap her teeth around those pesky roots and tear those suckers in half or just yank 'em plum outta the ground! She's a tough one.

Spok is our middle dog. She's quite the digger. Not something I really like to encourage her to do, but hey! she had a knack for it, and we didn't want to break out the tools to do it ourselves. Let her have a lil' fun from time to time. We enjoy free entertainment where ever we can get it too.
Here's a picture of Spok:
